New Queenston Park on Burke Mountain is open!

Oh to be a kid again! The new Queenston Park on Burke Mountain is simply amazing. Open just in time to take advantage of this fantastic weather we are having. Consequently, we see this park being a big hit all summer while kids are out of school and looking for something fun to do.

The neighbourhood park is 1.38 acres, cost 1 million dollars to build and is located at 3415 Queenston Ave., just north of Coast Meridian Road and David Avenue.

The park is built on to a hillside which make the attractions quite exceptional. It is built for adventure! The planners have incorporated the hill into the fun with integrated stairs, rope nets and planks to climb and a super-fast silver slide down the length of the hill.  Alex and I had to test this slide out ourselves and can attest it is slick and a ton of fun. The grounds are made out of a rubberized surface over the playground for soft and bouncy landings.

At the bottom there is a sports court for basketball and hockey with integrated hockey nets. There are numerous sized slides and climbing activities as well to keep kids of all ages entertained for hours. Additionally, there is a rock climbing wall for little climbers to delight in that is not too high.

The grassy area on top of the hill is flat and is the perfect spot for picnics, bocce or tag. There are no washrooms or water fountains here so plan ahead for your day at the park.
